One-Pot Wonder: Easy Skillet Beef and Macaroni

Calling all busy weeknight cooks! This Skillet Beef and Macaroni is a lifesaver. It's a one-pot meal that's incredibly easy to prepare, yet delivers big on flavor and comfort. Made with ground beef, elbow macaroni, a delicious tomato sauce, and a sprinkle of Italian seasoning, it's a dish that the whole family will love.

Ingredients:

  • For the Savory Base:

    • 1 pound ground beef
    • 1 small onion, diced
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • ½ teaspoon black pepper
    • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • For the Macaroni Magic:

    • 1 ½ cups uncooked elbow macaroni
  • For the Flavorful Sauce:

    • 2 cups water
    • 14.5 ounces stewed tomatoes, undrained (crushed or diced work too!)
    • 8 ounces tomato sauce
    • 2 teaspoons sugar
    • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • For the Finishing Touch (Optional):

    • Grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions:

  1. Brown the Beef and Onions: In a large skillet, heat some oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef and diced onions. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the beef is browned and the onions are softened.

  2. Drain and Season: Drain any excess grease from the skillet. Season the browned beef and onions with salt, pepper, and minced garlic.

  3. Welcome the Macaroni: Add the uncooked elbow macaroni to the skillet with the seasoned beef mixture.

  4. Let it Simmer: Pour in the water, stewed tomatoes, tomato sauce, sugar, and Italian seasoning. Stir everything together to combine. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to medium-low, cover the skillet, and simmer for approximately 10 minutes, or until the elbow macaroni is cooked through to your desired texture.

  5. Adjust and Serve: Stir the Skillet Beef and Macaroni occasionally throughout the simmering process. If the pasta seems to be drying out before it's fully cooked, add a little bit more water, just enough to keep things moist. Season with additional salt and pepper to taste, if desired.

  6. Parmesan Perfection (Optional): Once the pasta is cooked, remove the skillet from the heat. If you'd like, sprinkle the top with grated Parmesan cheese for an extra touch of flavor and richness.

  7. Dinner Time!: Serve this delicious and easy Skillet Beef and Macaroni hot, spooning it onto plates for everyone to enjoy. It's a complete meal in one pot, perfect for busy weeknights or a casual family dinner.
