Sweet Southern Fried Apples

Ingredients:

 ½ cup (1 stick) butter

 ½ cup granulated sugar

½ teaspoon ground cinnamon (add a dash of nutmeg or cloves if you like extra spice)

4 Granny Smith apples (about 3–4—peeled, cored, and sliced)

Pinch of salt (optional, to balance sweetness)

Directions:

1. In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter.

2. Stir in the sugar, cinnamon (and nutmeg/cloves if using), letting the sugar dissolve into the butter until it’s smooth and fragrant.

3. Add the apple slices and gently stir to coat them in the buttery spice mix.

4. Cook for about 7–10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the apples are fork-tender but still hold their shape.

5. Serve warm—perfect with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, alongside pork chops or ham, or spooned over pancakes or waffles.
